Costume Jewelry Sale Benefits Access Homeless Shelter

Nov 25th, 2019

Do you love jewelry? Access, an Akron homeless shelter for women and children, is once again hosting its jewelry fundraiser event.

The agency collects any type of jewelry — mostly costume jewelry — and sells it at the yearly event.

The Jewelry Box fundraiser will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Doubletree Fairlawn, 3150 W. Market St. Admission is free and more than 25,000 pieces of costume jewelry are available for $5 each. Select fine jewelry will be available for purchase at individual prices.

A VIP event will be held Friday. The $75 ticket includes wine/beer and hors d’oeuvres with live music to get a jump start on the $5 jewelry sale.

Additionally, a Jewelry Box Happy Hour will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday. A $25 ticket gives access to cocktails, desserts, a DJ and $1 jewelry. An additional 5,000 pieces of jewelry will be brought out for the evening event. Additionally, three local fashion and beauty experts — Dina Younis of Dina’s Days, Leia Love of Leia’ Love Hair & Nail Salon and Erin Dickey of Outta the Box Boutique — will be on hand for jewelry advice.

Online tickets are encouraged for the VIP and Happy Hour event at

Donations of jewelry are accepted at the shelter at 230 W. Market St.; the agency collects year-round for the next year’s event.
